February 2020 Prayer Letter
- Back in the United States: Originally, we were planning on taking a furlough from the end of March to the beginning of May as an end of language school furlough before starting a four-year term and church plant in May. However, with the United States and several other countries now issuing travel bans because of the coronavirus, we were advised to come back to the United States before travel is totally restricted and things in China settle down. We arrived back in the states on February 4th. God blessed with safe travels and good health. We are praying that we would be able to get back to China before the beginning of May to begin planting churches in Jinan China.
- Praise! Our time in the village over Chinese New Year holiday was a blessing! Thank you for praying for that opportunity. We went to visit a friend we knew from our time in Dalian China. Our friend told us that in his village of 400 families and about 1,500 people he is the only guy that he knows who is a Christian. He said that there are a few women who are Christians including his mom. The need for the Gospel is so great. He said that nearly everyone in the village practices ancestor worship. They also worship the land god and will pray to him when farming is bad or after someone dies to help that person in the afterlife. He showed us the mini-house the village people made for the land god. Please pray for this village to turn to Christ. We were able to be a witness for Jesus in this village. We also were able to go to a couple neighboring villages and pass out Gospel Mp3 players as a Chinese New Year gift. Please pray for the people in these villages to trust Christ as their Savior.
- Please Pray for the People Affected by the Coronavirus: As you have probably seen on the news, the coronavirus is really wreaking havoc in China. The outbreak started in the city of Wuhan China and has now spread throughout China. Life has come to a standstill as most people throughout China are being made to stay at home to try to control the virus. Many people have died with most of the deaths being in Wuhan China and the surrounding province. As of February 13th in the province we were in, Shandong province, there are 523 cases of the virus, 2 deaths, and 136 people fully recovered. We don’t know how the virus is going to continue to spread, but we do know that we can trust in the Lord. Please pray for the people affected by the virus to realize they need to turn to the Lord for salvation.
